Holy Day: Martyrdom of the Báb (in-person)

  • Bahai Center 3808 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY, 40218 United States (map)

This Bahá'í holy day commemorates the sacrifice made by the Báb in 1850 in carrying out His mission as a Messenger of God to prepare the way for the coming of Bahá’u’lláh, the Promised One of all religions. The Báb means “the Gate” and He served as a gate to a new era for humanity.

The Báb, the Herald of the Baha’i Faith, declared his mission in 1844 at age twenty five. His teachings of spiritual renewal spread around Persia with such velocity and momentum that the clerics and government authorities became alarmed. Fearing uprising and loss of control, His execution order was prepared by the government and signed by the high clerics. In 1850, the young Báb and his companion, Anís, were executed by firing squad in the city of Tabriz. Join us in commemorating His Martyrdom on Sunday, July 10 with the program beginning promptly at 12:15 p.m.and the Tablet of Visitation being recited at 1:00 p.m
